On the way to our hotel we spotted a gallery and figured we would pop in. It turned out to be the Mantay Modern Art Gallery, and little did I know during this visit that it was inside the Palacio del Inka, where we will stay during the last days of this trip. The Mantay gallery is focused on showcasing major contemporary Peruvian artists.
They currently have an exhibition called “Mitológica” by Luis “Mamanka” Sifuentes, which runs from January through April 2025. It includes diverse pieces in various materials (bronze patinated, alabaster, etc.), exploring themes like love, fear, desarraigo (rootlessness), desire, and the animalistic side of things.
W drodze do naszego hotelu zauważyliśmy galerię sztuki i postanowiliśmy zajrzeć do środka. Okazało się, że to Galeria Sztuki Współczesnej Mantay, i nie wiedziałam wtedy jeszcze, że znajduje się ona w Palacio del Inka – hotelu, który mamy zabukowany na ostatnie dni tej podróży. Galeria Mantay skupia się na prezentowaniu współczesnych peruwiańskich artystów.
Obecnie znajduje się tam wystawa zatytułowana „Mitológica” autorstwa Luisa „Mamanki” Sifuentesa, która trwa od stycznia do kwietnia 2025 roku. Zgromadzone prace wykonane są z różnych materiałów (brąz patynowany, alabaster, itd.) i poruszają tematy takie jak miłość, strach, desarraigo (oderwanie od korzeni), pragnienia, czy zwierzęca natura człowieka
The place also has a boutique gallery shop which supports a social project – the Mantay shelter for teenage mothers and their children. Some of the work sold is made in workshops of the shelter, and the proceeds go towards that project.
I treated myself to a pair of silver earrings in the shop 😊
Na miejscu znajduje się również sklep, który wspiera projekt społeczny – schronisko Mantay dla nastoletnich matek i ich dzieci. Część przedmiotów dostępnych w sprzedaży powstaje w warsztatach tego schroniska, a dochód ze sprzedaży jest przeznaczony na jego działalność.
Kupiłam sobie tam zatem srebrne kolczyki 😊
