Tapas Brindisa

As we were already in the Battersea area, we decided to stay for dinner at Tapas Brindisa Battersea, a flagship Spanish tapas spot. The restaurant has a lively, modern atmosphere and offers a range of classic tapas alongside larger sharing plates (platos). We enjoyed a relaxed and thoroughly pleasant meal, making the most of both the vibrant setting and the social style of dining.

Ponieważ byliśmy już w okolicy Battersea, zostaliśmy tam na kolację w Tapas Brindisa, jednym z flagowych miejsc serwujących hiszpańskie tapas. To przyjemna, niezobowiązująca restauracja z klasycznymi tapas i większymi daniami do dzielenia się (platos). Spędziliśmy bardzo miły, spokojny wieczór.

Dao

We noticed a new little spot called DAO that opened up in town. It’s a small Asian restaurant with a simple menu, but it’s pretty cool.

Zauważyliśmy nowe miejsce o nazwie DAO, które otworzyło się w centrum. To mała azjatycka restauracja z prostym menu, ale całkiem fajna.

You start by choosing either rice or noodles, then decide whether you want it dry or as ramen. We opted for the noodles in ramen form. Next, you can select your vegetables and proteins. Finally, you can spice it up as much as you want. The food was tasty, and we both left feeling full but not as if we had eaten a brick.

Zaczynasz od wyboru ryżu lub makaronu, a następnie decydujesz czy chcesz danie suche, czy w formie ramenu. My oczywiście wybraliśmy ramen. Następnie możesz wybrać warzywa i białka. Na koniec możesz dodać tyle przypraw, ile chcesz. Jedzenie było smaczne, a oboje wyszliśmy najedzeni, ale nie obżarci.

Dinner

Today, we decided to have dinner at our riad. At Kbour & Chou, dinner is traditionally served in an elegant, communal indoor salon. The room is designed with candlelit tables and features an eclectic aesthetic. The highlight is the striking wall of antique Dutch manganese tiles, often called "Bible tiles" (bijbeltegels). These tiles use a distinct purple-brown or reddish-sepia tone; under the dim, warm light, the scenes look like aged sepia ink on the walls. Marrakech is quite cold at night during the winter, but the heating was on to keep us warm and happy. Our food was great, and after dinner, we were definitely ready for bed.

Dzisiaj postanowiliśmy zjeść kolację w naszym riadzie. W Kbour & Chou posiłki serwowane są w eleganckim salonie urządzonym w eklektycznym stylu. Największe wrażenie robi ściana wyłożona antycznymi holenderskimi płytkami, zwanymi „płytkami biblijnymi”. W ciepłym świetle świec ich purpurowo-brązowe zdobienia wyglądają jak stare ryciny wykonane sepią, tworząc nastrojowe tło dla tradycyjnych marokańskich potraw. Zimowe noce w Marrakeszu są naprawdę chłodne, ale przez całą kolacje dmuchała na nas przyjemnie farelka. Jedzenie było bardzo dobre, a po kolacji udaliśmy się prosto do pokoju - w końcu kiedyś trzeba się wyspać.

12 days of Christmas

The Christmas celebration has commenced early this year with a delightful show and dinner at the Garden Society. This year's entertainment featured a unique and somewhat flamboyant interpretation of the classic Christmas carol.

On the twelfth day of Christmas,

my true love sent to me

Twelve drummers drumming,

Eleven pipers piping,

Ten lords a-leaping,

Nine ladies dancing,

Eight maids a-milking,

Seven swans a-swimming,

Six geese a-laying,

Five gold rings,

Four calling birds,

Three French hens,

Two turtle doves,

And a partridge in a pear tree!

Obchody Bożego Narodzenia rozpoczeliśmy się w tym roku wcześnie uroczystym pokazem i kolacją w Garden Society. Tegoroczny show obejmował  zabawną i dość ekstrawagancką interpretację klasycznej angielskiej kolędy (patrz wyżej).

The performance had an unexpected flair, with three French hens exuding a rather gangsta vibe, geese laying Fabergé eggs, and gold rings large enough to be used as hula hoops. The drummers made quite an impression too, donning (not so surprisingly for this venue) minimal attire.

Występ obfitował w nieoczekiwane smaczki: trzy francuskie kury emanowały raczej gangsterskim klimatem, gęsi znosiły jajka Fabergé, a złote pierścienie były wielkości hula hop. Werblisci również zrobili spore wrażenie wychodząc w bardzo minimalistycznych strojach (nie, żebyśmy się tego nie spodziewali ;).

This year, we decided to bring friends along, which made for a lively table of nine. While the trade-off was that we weren't quite as close to the stage, we still enjoyed great company. The food was enjoyable, and the atmosphere even better. Our evening culminated on the dance floor, where we stayed long enough for a bit of festive movement to balance out my sugar levels. Overall, a wonderful kick-off to the holiday season.

W tym roku postanowiliśmy zabrać ze sobą przyjaciół, co sprawiło, że przy stole zasiadło nas dziewięcioro. Chociaż kompromisem było to, że nie byliśmy tak blisko sceny, jak zwykle, to mieliśmy za to świetne towarzystwo. Jedzenie było dobre, atmosfera jeszcze lepsza. Nasz wieczór zakończył się na parkiecie, gdzie zostaliśmy wystarczająco długo, aby trochę świątecznego ruchu zbiło mój skok cukru po deserze. Podsumowując, wspaniały początek sezonu świątecznego.

Mountain Spring

We noticed a new Japanese restaurant opened in Salisbury this year and decided to pay it a visit. “Mountain Spring” is located at the Market Walk (2B), and serves a decent selection of sushi, tempura and other dishes. Their tempura and ramen were both delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Definitely a place to visit again.

Zauważyliśmy, że w tym roku w Salisbury otworzyła się nowa japońska restauracja i postanowiliśmy ją odwiedzić. „Mountain Spring” znajduje się przy Market Walk (2B) i serwuje przyzwoity wybór sushi, tempury i innych dań. Ich tempura i ramen były pyszne i w rozsądnej cenie. Obsługa była uważna i bardzo przyjazna. Zdecydowanie miejsce, które warto odwiedzić ponownie.
